Knittinf Secrets Revealed!

KNITTING SECRETS
We asked our readers to share their KNITTING SECRETS and received more than we ever imagined! We'll be publishing the winning responses over the next several weeks
A $10 Custom Yarns Gift Certificate is on the way to Diane Veideman who shared this KNITTING SECRET : When teaching some one to knit, use a poem : Under the fence, around the sheep, bring them through, and off he leaps
Many thanks to Jill Lutz for her KNITTING SECRET : If your yarn starts to drag over your knitting needles and crochet hooks, rub the empty needle/hook through your hair several times, close to the scalp. The natural oils in your hair will make the needles just glide along.

What To Do With All That Stash !

Do you tell yourself "I'm not buying any more yarn until I use up some of my stash"? Welcome to the club! Here's an idea we've found for a quick project that uses up lots of leftover yarns - Pillows!

They make great gifts, are fun to do, take little time and allows your imagination to run wild.

Follow these steps for a custom made pillow :

* Purchase a pillow form in the size you prefer
* Select yarns by color family
* Measure pillow form on 1 side and double
the width measurement, allowing some room for the yarn to
stretch.
* Create your own design - solids, stripes, freeform, squares, etc.
* Insert pillow form in the completed knitted rectangle or square
and using a tapestry needle sew the 3 sides together.
* By finishing this way, the 4 th seam is eliminated.

Want to use up some more yarn? Take a thick and short eyelash yarn and crochet on all 4 sides to create an eye catching border. Here's another suggestion ... take yarn and braid it attaching braids to 2 sides of the pillow. Gives the pillow a finished look . Be sure to leave room on either side of the braid for fringing.

You're gonna love it!
